The poor rookie that had to put all of his gear on including clicking into oxygen in 1 minute, 45 seconds. He did it!

Each month at school, the kids participate in a different service project for the community. The September project was to assemble fruit baskets for the fire fighters and police officers as a thank you for their service. With each project, they select certain classes to do the delivery. The baskets were to be delivered by the Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade and 6th grade, so Abby and Jack both were able to go.
This was so exciting for Jack as it would be his first ride on the bus at school, which he has wanted to ride since his sister rode it for the first time in Pre-K. I was going on the field trip with the kids and Jack asked me if I could follow behind in the bus. When I asked him why, he said that he wanted to sit with his friends and not me. Mr. Big Kindie is too cool for Mom! He allowed me on the bus but I had to sit with another mom :) He is definitely not a baby anymore!
We went to the largest fire station around and the police officers came over also to be presented with their basket. The guys were great and showed the kids EVERYTHING! At one point, Jack was "mowed over" by a big sixth grader. He was upset and fighting back the tears. One of the fire fighters saw him and came and asked Jack what was wrong. He told him and the guy said, "Well, there's no crying at the fire station...come with me!" He took Jack over to the big ladder truck that was running and put Jack in the driver's seat and let him run the lights and sirens. The tears cleared up IMMEDIATELY!
Both the kids had a great time and keep asking when we can go back.
