Estes Park Fun

The elk "bugling" or locking horns

Daddy and the kids fishing in front of the cabin.

The kids by the river walk in Estes.

Big girl!

The kids posed by a really cool jeep we saw for the Jeep tours.

By the riverwalk.

Might by Momma's new favorite pic of the kids!

The Air Force in the Scottish and Irish parade...Jack says he wants to do that when he gets big!

Off the front deck of the cabin...that is the Big Thompson River in the front yard!

Do you think Jack is excited to be at the cabin?!?

We had the opportunity to take a quick getaway to Estes Park this weekend. My mom checked with a friend who has a cabin and it was free this weekend so we jumped on it...thanks mom! We are running out of time before the sale and baby's arrival so we thought it was a great chance to get away as a family of 4 :) We drove up Friday night and the kids were so excited!!! They had never seen a cabin and loved every minute.

The elk were bugling this weekend in Estes Park and it was also the Scottish and Irish Festival. What is elk bugling you ask? Once a year, the elk come out and fight for power of their herd. We saw 2 huge males on our way in on Friday night. They were cruising through town and were about 10 feet in front of our car. The kids were asleep but we were able to see more locking horns on Saturday.

We had a great breakfast Saturday morning in town followed by the Scottish and Irish parade. We cruised for elk and walked around town. We had a great lunch by the river and went back to the cabin for trout fishing...sadly, they weren't biting but it was still fun. Before leaving town, we made sure to stop at the Blue Bell ice cream shop.

The kids are anxiously awaiting our next trip to the cabin. It was a great last getaway before the craziness begins!
